The Association of Late-Deafened Adults is about communication and acceptance of every deafened individual. Some people lip-read, some sign, some use hearing aids, some have cochlear implants, and some need to have others write down what they are saying - and at ALDA all the above is okay! ALDAs official communication philosophy is "Whatever works!"

One of ALDA's most significant contributions is adding friendships and social activities back into the lives of people who have lost their hearing.
In ALDA we find people who share the same experience and work together to find solutions to the everyday challenges of living with hearing loss.
When ALDA members get together communication barriers disappear. ALDA's communication philosophy is "Whatever works!"
Through Local Chapters, Community Forums and our Annual ALDAcons friendships are formed that feel like family.

The mission of the Association of Late-Deafened Adults ( ALDA) is to support the empowerment of deafened people.
Late-Deafened Adults are people who have lost the ability to understand speech with or without hearing aids after acquiring spoken language. ALDA is committed to providing a support network and a sense of belonging by sharing our unique experiences, challenges and coping strategies, helping one another find practical solutions and emotional support, and working together with other organizations and service providers for our common good.

No one needs to worry about being "alone in a crowd" because every conceivable way to communicate is put to work to make every participant feel welcome.
ALDAcon features outstanding keynote speakers, workshops of interest to people of every age and background and vendor displays with the latest technology and resources available.
Our annual ALDAcon is more than just a convention; it is communication heaven. ALDAcon is most famous for the Saturday Night Karaoke Party, where everybody cuts loose with singing and dancing. You will not find this kind of fun anywhere else.
